Light. Whether it’s natural or artificial, light shapes plant composition, defines spaces, and adds drama to the landscape, especially at night.
Seeing a drawing come to life and knowing that people get to live in and experience the space as it was imagined is incredibly fulfilling.

I've always loved working in a field that has allowed me to see a project go from being just a thought to a space that can be lived in and enjoyed. Landscape design has the ability to bring a sense of joy and excitement to people's daily lives and I'm happy to have a small part in that.
Working at NWLD there's a real sense of teamwork and community that makes going into the office something to look forward to.

I love how thoughtful design can change the way a space feels and functions…from a place you avoid to a space that beckons you to stay, from messy to orderly, or from boring to inspiring. I love that you can create whatever feeling you want with the right plants and hardscape.

I have a BA in Economics from NYU.
Perennial flowers. I love knowing they will bloom again each year and witnessing a perennial garden evolve over time. Year one is such a different experience than year five or ten…gardens grow, change, and are most beautiful and healthy when tended to regularly, just like people!
The joy that a beautiful outdoor space brings to all involved - clients, our team, and the people who see our finished work in real life and online.

Landscape ecologies, particularly in the form of urban relationships, as an intersection rather than a backdrop to the human experience.
Good architecture, unique materiality, ephemeral qualities of nature... the original influencer Martha Stewart, the production of Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor album, and the insane talent of Chicago's drag scene.

My meows greet everyone who works at Nathan Wright Landscape Design. I enjoy watching over the plants that we use to create landscapes and I really love being a steward of the land.
I love that our naturalistic landscapes attract an abundance of wildlife and pollinators. I make friends with the bugs, birds, and butterflies. The team cares for me as much as they care for the plants!
I was born into this industry four years ago. I first worked with Callandar Garden Design and then I joined Nathan Wright Landscape Design after the team moved into the Callandar Garden Design building. They adopted me, and I found my new family! I am so happy to be here.
While I don’t have any official experience, I have become very skilled at keeping the rodents out of our plants and materials at our property in Logan Square. I’m not only watching over the plants, but I am loving the plants.
I love feeling the grasses on my face. Some of the grasses even taste good! The crew also lets me dig holes in the mulch. I love working with the different seasonal and colorful annuals and seeing them come and go through the yard.
I love witnessing plant growth and people growth! The team works really hard, and I love being a part of all of it.
